About the Tufts Recycling Program
Recycling at Tufts began in 1990 as a student-run initiative and is now a comprehensive program jointly managed by the Office of Sustainability and Facilities Services.
The Office of Sustainability is responsible for goal setting, data collection and tracking, education and outreach, communications, programming, interior waste infrastructures, compost, and select specialty recycling streams. We strive to reduce waste, decrease contamination in our recycling stream, and increase diversion from landfills and incinerators.
Facilities Services is responsible for most operational components, including contracting, servicing interior waste bins, dumpsters, and removing waste from campus.
