Action Required: Update Duo Mobile Before March 31, 2026
To continue accessing Tufts systems that require Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA), some users will need to update their Duo Mobile app.
What’s Changing?
After March 31, 2026, Duo Mobile versions earlier than 4.85 will no longer work for two-step login at Tufts.
If your app is not updated, Duo Push notifications will fail and you will not be able to log in to systems requiring MFA.
What You Need to Do
Step 1: Check Your Device: Your phone must meet these minimum requirements to support the latest version of Duo Mobile:
-
Apple devices: iOS 16.0 or newer
-
Android devices: Android 12 or newer
How to check your phone version
-
iPhone/iPad:
Settings > General > About > iOS Version -
Android:
Settings > About Phone > Android Version
If your device does not meet these requirements, see options below.
Step 2: Update Duo Mobile
If your device meets the minimum requirements:
-
Open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
-
Search for “Duo Mobile”
-
Tap Update (if you only see “Open,” your app is already current)
-
Open Duo Mobile
-
Click the menu (top left corner) and check the version number
-
Confirm your version is 4.85 or higher
Note: Version numbers can be tricky. Version number 4.106.0 is newer than 4.85.0 because each section is compared separately (4 = 4, then 106 > 85). If your Duo Mobile version begins with 4.9x, 4.10x, or higher — you are fine (4.106 is the latest version). If your version is 4.84 or lower — you must update.
