Campus Stewardship Transformation Project
The Campus Stewardship Transformation Project (CST) is a multi-year initiative aimed at improving the management of space, facilities, and infrastructure at Tufts. It covers the entire campus stewardship lifecycle that is: plan, design, construct/renew, and maintain. The departments directly affected are Campus Planning, Facilities, Capital Programs, and Real Estate.
In Fall 2023, members of Operations leadership came together to outline a transformation of its facilities practices within the university. A charter was developed in March 2024 to create a consistent transformation approach and project plan. The goal of the project is to improve the Operations Division’s ability to successfully meet the needs of the Tufts community and provide services across all four campuses that are effective and satisfactory.
Mission Statement
Advance and support the university’s mission in education, research, and clinical practices by enabling transformative experiences, through stewardship, strategies, and services for the physical campus environment.
Areas of Transformation
Many processes within the facilities lifecycle are no longer fit for purpose and are not delivering the right strategic value for the university. This includes but is not limited to: Campus Planning, Capital Programs, Facilities Management, and Real Estate.
This initiative has been divided into three phases, beginning in 2023 and continuing to 2027 and beyond.

Jumbo Impact

Larry Ourique, property information resources manager, is helping our schools respond dynamically to their research needs. Larry led trainings and created tutorials for Tufts Space, the new space management system, to expedite access to research and classroom space data. David Raymond, operations manager for the Dental School, told the Campus Planning team that this is the “most accurate space data in the school’s history!”
