Data Governance

The Data Governance Program at Tufts University ensures the accessibility, reliability, and security of data. By providing a structured environment in which data can be effectively managed, data governance promotes a culture of data informed decision-making, ensures compliance with regulations, and protects sensitive information.

As the Data Governance Program expands, the resources on this page will evolve to better serve the community.

What is Data Governance?

Data governance is the management of data availability, usability, integrity, and security within an organization. It ensures that data remains consistent, trustworthy, and used responsibly. Effective data governance is an ongoing effort executed by people, enabled by processes, and supported by technology.

Data Governance at Tufts is a collaborative partnership between the Office of the Provost and Tufts Technology Services (TTS). Implementation is being led by the Office of Institutional Research and Data Strategy and Engineering.
