Did You Know Tufts is Sunsetting Webex?

In early January 2022, Tufts Technology Services (TTS) announced that the University would be sunsetting Webex as Zoom has become the community’s recommended, preferred, and supported platform for video conferencing and online meetings. With less than 30 meetings a day hosted in Webex compared to over 5,000 meetings a day in Zoom, it is clearly preferred by about 98% of the community.
TTS has been working with the schools, departments, and individuals who are still using Webex to understand their needs, assist their transition to Zoom, and provide training as needed. At the same time, the equipment in our video conference spaces is also being reviewed to ensure compatibility with Zoom.
By the end of the semester (June), Webex will be decommissioned at Tufts. By this time, we will have successfully transitioned all users over to Zoom for video conferencing.
Webex Recordings
All community members who used Webex and recorded meetings to the Webex cloud storage space should visit tufts.webex.com and review their saved recordings. It is recommended that you delete any recordings that are no longer needed and store those you do need to retain in Box. Recordings left in Webex will be no longer accessible after we decommission the service!
More information on recordings and how to manage them in Webex can be found in the online guide.
