Getting a Cash Advance from Your Travel Card
Audience: All Employees with a Travel Card
The Travel Card can be used to obtain cash advances from ATM machines worldwide. A cardholder is set up to enable a withdrawal in an amount up to $500 per day (either all at once or in increments).
If a cardholder requires a greater amount of cash be available, requests can be made to have that amount increased (up to $2500), however, the following procedure will need to be followed:
- Fill out a cash advance request form 5-7 business days before needing the cash. Contact tss@tufts.edu for the appropriate form.
- Once your form has been submitted, you will receive an email within 1 business day with your supervisor copied.
- Your supervisor will be asked if they approve this request.
- They will need to reply that they do approve your cash advance/withdrawal request. If they do not reply, the process cannot proceed to the next step. Forwarded emails with approvals will not be accepted. Approvals will need to come directly from the cardholder's supervisor/manager.
- The bank will review the request (which can take up to 7 business days) and confirm with the Card Administrator if the request has been approved.
- The Card Administrator will then reach out to you and your supervisor to update you on the status of your request.
Important Reminders
- For ATM/cash withdrawals, a PIN number is not automatically assigned. You must obtain a PIN number from the bank. Please call JP Morgan Chase at 1.800.316.6056.
- Remember, when prompted for your Social Security Number (SSN), you need to give them the last four digits of your Tufts Employee ID number.
- Please be aware that it does take 24 hours for your PIN to be activated at all major banks.
- Once your PIN is established, you can use an ATM machine or go to any bank that has a MasterCard teller window to obtain cash.
