Guide to Migrating Your Videos off Zoom
Effective October 1, 2024, Tufts is activating a 2-year retention policy for Zoom cloud recordings.
Once activated, your Zoom recordings which are 2-years-old or older will automatically be placed in your Tufts Zoom account trash bin. After October 1 the retention policy will continue on a daily rolling basis. As your recordings continue to “age out” by reaching their two-year-old mark they will be placed in your Zoom trash bin.
Deleted recordings will remain in the trash for 29 days, during which you can temporarily retrieve them for 24 hours. After 29 days, the recordings will be permanently deleted.
To prepare please review your Zoom recording and migrate any you wish to keep to another platform. The following steps and user guides take you through the process:
- Log in to the Tufts Zoom website and navigate to the Recordings page.
- Review your cloud recordings focusing on the oldest ones first. See: How to view cloud recordings in Zoom
- If recordings have been placed in the trash you can temporarily retrieve them for 24 hours. See: How to recover a deleted cloud recording in the web portal.
- Download a list of all your cloud recordings. See: How to export a list of cloud recordings.
- Delete any recordings you don't need to decrease clutter in your Zoom account. See: Deleting local or cloud Zoom recordings
- Choose a destination and migrate your recording:

Recordings of Users No Longer at Tufts
- Zoom cloud recordings of users no longer at Tufts will age out and be deleted according to the 2-year retention policy described above.
- If you are aware of recordings within your department which need to be migrated and you do not have the ability to download copies for yourself, please contact it@tufts.edu.
Special Archival Tufts Recordings
