Tufts Technology’s Information Stewardship Policy
This policy applies to all temporary workers, staff, limited term staff, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, or any other members of the Tufts community or who are otherwise covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
In order to readily identify university community members, employees of all categories are issued picture ID cards, to be carried with them. In some cases, those ID cards also serve as an access card to the person’s workplace and/or secure environments, such as research labs and patient-related areas. Other property appropriate to the person’s position (locker, uniforms, laptop, university credit card and the like) will be issued and are considered property of the university.
Please keep your I.D. with you while you are on university premises, as admittance to some university buildings and departments requires proper university identification.
Depending on the responsibilities of your position, you may also be issued additional resources, such as a mobile phone, laptop, or university credit card (or P-card) or university travel card to facilitate your job duties. You will be required to provide signed acknowledgement of receipt of these materials. You are required to handle these items with care and keep them secure. Any loss must be immediately reported to your supervisor.
If you are a designated remote worker, some equipment and resources may be provided for alternative work locations. All university property must be returned to Tufts upon your termination of employment or engagement.
The return of equipment, unused supplies and other resources will be FED-EX-ed/sensitive mail, or if substantive size, by UPS at your expense at the time of separation.
These tools are intended for business use and remain university property. Inappropriate operation or use of any such tools is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Please refer to the university’s Information Stewardship policy for additional information.
