Tufts faculty, staff, and students now have a new, convenient way to complete Duo two-factor authentication. Duo Passkeys let you securely verify your identity using the device you’re already using—without waiting for and approving a Duo Push notification.

With a Duo Passkey, you can verify your identity using an authentication method supported by your device. Available options will vary depending on your device, operating system, browser, and its capabilities, and may include:

• Face ID
• Touch ID
• Windows Hello
• Fingerprint
• Device PIN

For example, a Mac may offer Touch ID, while a Windows computer may use Windows Hello. Your device will present the authentication options available to you.

How Does It Work?

Once you've set up a passkey, signing in is simple:

1. Enter your Tufts username and password as usual.
2. Select the option to authenticate with your passkey.
3. Verify your identity using the method supported by your device.
4. You’re in!

Do I Have to Stop Using Duo Push?

No. Duo Passkeys provide an additional way to authenticate. You can keep your other Duo authentication methods available as backup options when needed.
