Parking FAQs
Frequently asked questions about parking on Tufts campuses.
How do I purchase a parking permit?
-
Parking permits can be purchased on our website. See our Parking Permits page for more details.
-
Visitors can buy daily parking permits at any of the kiosks found in Dowling Garage. Please note, the kiosks only provide daily $20 parking permits. If you would like to purchase hourly or monthly permits, those can be purchased on our website.
-
Employee parking permits can be purchased using pretax dollars. Purchase a monthly permit on our permit website and select “payroll deduction” or register for a transportation benefits debit card to pay for parking with pretax dollars.
How will I know when to renew my permit?
You will receive a notification from Sentry Mobile Parking three days prior to the end of your parking permit at the email address you provided when purchasing that permit.
When vendors, city inspectors, and emergency services visit the campus, will they receive a citation?
A 25-minute grace period is provided prior to generating a violation. If a permit was not created for the vehicle prior to or within that grace period, a ticket is generated. Vehicles that are clearly marked as emergency vehicles will not be ticketed.
Vendors visiting campus regularly over a period of time can reach out to their Tufts University point of contact or directly to Tufts Transportation and Parking Services for more information regarding vendor or contractor permit options.
How does the automated violation process work?
If a parker pulls into a lot without a valid permit, the parker has a 30-minute grace period to purchase a permit. When the 30-minute period expires, a violation is generated. At the end of the day, a reconciliation process happens. If the parker purchased a permit that same day (but after the grace period expired), then the automated violation is voided. If the parker leaves the lot without purchasing a permit, then the violation is sent to the vehicle owner’s registered address.
I’m visiting another campus from the Boston campus. What do I need to park?
Any valid permit holders from the Boston Health Sciences campus will not be required to purchase a permit while on the Medford/Somerville campus. Please fill out the Shared Campus Parking Permit form on our website that will grant temporary access to our Medford/Somerville campus. We require 72 hours notice prior to arriving on campus.
My car is in the shop, but I have a loaner vehicle. What should I do?
Please email assistance@mpspark.com with your loaner vehicle details. They will need a 24-hour notice to add the vehicle to the account. MPS Park add your loaner vehicle to your account as a secondary vehicle. Alternatively, purchase a daily parking permit through the permit purchasing website.
