Frequently Asked Questions

My application was returned with a request for change(s), what do I do?

If you have received an email from PaymentWorks after your application was submitted saying changes are needed to your submission, please click HERE for instructions. 

I am a foreign individual and I do not have a SSN, ITIN, EIN, or Foreign tax ID, what do I do?

1. Navigate to the Payee Support Site HERE

2. Click the "Contact Support" button in the top right corner to create a ticket

3. Request a "Placeholder ID" in your support ticket

4. Once you receive the ID, complete the application 

I do not have a US Bank account, how can I get a wire transfer to my foreign bank account?

In the application, select "Foreign Bank".  This will trigger an email to you asking for your banking information.

 

 

I have already registered in PaymentWorks with a different University or Company, how can I link this to the Tufts Application?

1. Please contact your payment requester to ensure that the Tufts Registration request is being sent to the SAME EMAIL you used to register with for your previous registration. 

2. Once the invitation has been sent, log into PaymentWorks HERE and navigate the "Connect" tab and click on "Tufts Univeristy" to complete any missing information. 

I am already registered in PaymentWorks with a different email address but I got another invitation email, who can I contact?

Please reach out to your Tufts requester to let them know you are already registered under a different email address. If any of your information has changed since your initial registration, please log in HERE and review/update any information that has changed. Please do not validate the email address from the duplicate invitation. We use email addresses to help verify identity. 

I thought I registered, but I keep getting reminder emails, where do I look to see that the application was fully submitted?

1. Log into Payment Works HERE

2. Click the "Connect" Tab

3. Under "Customer Registration" if you see "Tufts University - Returned" or "Tufts University - Pending" you must click the link to complete the registration; (if it says "Returned" here, please follow the returned application instructions).

4. If you do not see "Tufts University" at all under "Customer Registrations", please contact your invite requester to confirm the email address you used to register your account. 

6. If it says "Complete" or "Submitted" Please reach out to the invite sender to let them know you have registered already. 

I want to update my remittance (mailing) address, where do I go?

If you have recently moved or would otherwise like to change your remittance address please follow the instructions below. Note: if you have moved permanently, please change BOTH addresses to ensure your tax forms are sent to the correct address in January. 

 

Part 1– Remittance Address Update (Where your physical checks are sent)

1. Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click Company Profile in the top right corner

3. Click Remittance Addresses on the left menu bar 

4a. If updating the current address listed, click Edit (pencil icon) and update the address as needed.
4b. If you need to provide an additional remittance address to your customer, click "Create New Address". For most customers, you will see a "Share With Customers" screen where you can select the customer(s) who should be provided with the new address. If you do not see the intended customer, please contact PaymentWorks Support for further assistance.

5. Click Save to finalize the changes

 

Part 2 - Primary Address / Corporate Address Update (Where your tax forms (1099 or 1042) are sent)

NOTE: an Updated W-9, W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E is needed with this update

1. Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click Company Profile in the top right corner

3. Click Marketing Information on the left menu bar

4. Click Edit and update the address as needed

5. Click Save to finalize the changes

 

To Upload a new Tax form:

1. Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click Company Profile in the top right corner

3. Click "Tax Forms" on the left menu bar

4. Click the IRS Form link to download a blank copy of the applicable form.
(if the form listed is not the one you need please click one of the following links for a downloadable form:       W-9           W-8BEN        W-8BEN-E

5. Fill out the form completely and save it on your computer

6. Browse for the completed tax form on your computer and click "Upload"

I want to update my banking (direct deposit) information, where do I go?

If you banking details have changed or you opened a new account, click HERE for instructions.

I want to add Banking (direct deposit) information, where do I go?

If you previously signed up for Check payments and would like direct deposit, click HERE for instructions and log into PaymentWorks HERE

PLEASE NOTE: EFT is ONLY for US banks

I want to change my payment type to 'Check', how do I do that?

NOTE: EFT (Direct Deposit) payments are preferred as they have a faster turn around, please consider updating your banking details instead of changing to 'check'. If you still NEED check payments instead, please click HERE for instructions. 

I want to change my payment type to 'Wire', how do I do that?

1. Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click the "Connect" tab 

3. Click on "Tufts University" under "Customer Registrations"

4. Click the "Additional Information" tab in the application 

5. Answer the "Are you a Tufts University student or employee" question(s)

6. Select "Foreign Bank" for your bank location

7. Click submit to submit the changes

 

I recently changed my name / my business' name, how do I change this in PaymentWorks?

PLEASE NOTE: you can only change your name if your tax ID number is the same. If you have a new tax ID number, please have your payment requester send a new invitation. If your tax ID is the same and you need to change your name, click HERE for instructions. 

I have received my SSN or ITIN, how do I update this in PaymentWorks?

1. Log into PaymentWorks at  https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click "Tax Forms" on the left menu bar.

3. Download a blank copy of the W-8BEN tax form here

4. Fill out the form with your SSN or ITIN, save to your computer and then upload to PaymentWorks

5. Next, click the "Connect" Tab and click on "Tufts University" under "Customer Registrations" (this will bring you to the application)

6. Once in the application, click the "Additional Information" Tab at the top of the screen. 

7. Change the answer to "Are you a resident alien" to "No" and then click submit. 

I am now a Resident Alien, how do I update this?

1. Log into PaymentWorks at  https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/

2. Click "Company Profile" in the top right corner

3. Click "Marketing Information" on the left menu bar. Then click “edit” and update the address to your home/permanent address in the US. Then, click "save"

4. Click "Tax Forms" on the left menu bar.

5. Download a blank copy of the W-9 tax form here

6. Fill out the form, save to your computer and then upload to PaymentWorks

7. Next, click the "Connect" Tab and click on "Tufts University" under "Customer Registrations" (this will bring you to the application)

8. Once in the application, click the "Additional Information" Tab at the top of the screen. 

9. Change the answer to "Are you a resident alien" to "Yes" and then click submit. 

 

I am looking to see if a payment has been made, how can I see this?

1. Log into PaymentWorks HERE

2. Click the "Invoices" Tab to see your payments

If you do not see a payment here and are expecting one, please contact your payment requester or invite sender. 

I forgot my log in information, who should I contact?

Please note, the email address you should be using to log in is the one you initially validated with the PaymentWorks invitation.

If you forgot your email or password / would like to reset your password, please click the "Forgot Password" link on the log in page or contact PaymentWorks Support HERE and create a ticket by clicking "Contact Support" in the top right corner. 

I am a "Payer" in PaymentWorks and send invitations to others. How can I also register as a "Payee"?

Please contact your payment requester to provide an alternative email address for a new invitation. If you have logged into PaymentWorks via the Tufts SSO you will have a Payer account. Please DO NOT log in through Tufts unless you are going to send invitations.
