Tufts offers pet insurance through Nationwide Insurance, who provide the broadest pet insurance coverage available. Pet Insurance benefit offerings for 2020 will allow a choice of three levels of reimbursement, providing greater flexibility in premium costs.
You may use any licensed veterinarian, including specialists and emergency services. There are no age restrictions for covered pets, nor lifetime limits. Some preexisting condition restrictions may apply.
Tufts offers two plans for dogs and cats: My Pet Protection with Wellness and My Pet Protection. Both plans offer:
- Your choice of 50%, 70%, or 90% reimbursement for qualified services
- $250 deductible
- $7,500 annual maximum
- 24/7 VetHelpLine
Rates and Payments
As a Tufts employee, you will receive employee-preferred pricing and multiple-pet discounts (if applicable). Your monthly premiums will be deducted from your paycheck as a post-tax benefit:
- If you are paid on a weekly basis, the deduction will occur in the 4th paycheck of each month.
- If you are paid on a semi-monthly basis, the deduction will occur in the 2nd paycheck of the month.
How to Enroll
You may enroll at any time. During Open Enrollment or as a new hire, you may indicate your interest via eServe and a Nationwide representative will reach out directly to discuss your plan options. To enroll in this benefit at any other time of year, please contact Nationwide directly.
Please enroll by the 15th of the month for coverage to begin on the 1st of the following month. You can enroll or drop coverage at any time throughout the year.
