Pregnancy in the Workplace Policy
Tufts University policies and the law prohibit discrimination based on pregnancy status and pregnancy-related conditions. Some pregnancy- related conditions do not always rise to the level of a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act but may be eligible for accommodations at Tufts, nonetheless. These conditions include but are not limited to childbirth; lactation and/or a place to nurse or pump; and/or termination of pregnancy. Employees, applicants for employment and other community members may be eligible for these services and can reach out to OEO for support.
Lactation Policy
Tufts University is committed to supporting and meeting the needs of nursing individuals returning to work, school, or visiting the campus. Lactation rooms are available on all Tufts campuses and faculty and staff are entitled to reasonable breaks to express breast milk as well as the sufficient time to get to the lactation room.
