Get Started
How Do I Install PyMOL?
PyMOL is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux platforms. To access the software, follow the instructions below:
- Obtain a PyMOL license by placing an order through OnTheHub.
- Visit the PyMOL website to download and install the software.
- Open PyMOL after installation.
- In the activation pop-up window, click Browse for License File.
- Select your PyMOL license file to activate the software on your machine.
PyMOL License Compatibility Notice
As of December 1st, 2024, Schrödinger has transitioned to a new license system. Please note the following important changes:
- The latest Tufts PyMOL license is only compatible with PyMOL version 3.1 or later.
- Attempting to activate the new license in older versions of PyMOL will result in an error “invalid license file syntax”.
- If you receive the error message above, download and install the latest version of PyMOL, then activate the license again.
