Recycling Trainings
For Faculty, Staff, and Students
Ever wondered whether that spiral notebook could be recycled? Curious about what to do with your grocery bags? Looking for a place to recycle batteries?
You've come to the right place. The Tufts Recycling team is dedicated to educating the entire Tufts community on how to be zero waste warriors. We offer recycling and/or compost presentations to all different campus groups, including academic departments, administrative divisions, staff teams, residence halls, and student groups/clubs.
You may opt for a basic PowerPoint presentation or a more interactive training with a sorting game. Options include:
- 15-minute recycling training
- 15-minute recycling and compost training
- 30-minute recycling and compost training
- Any training with sorting game
If you are part of a group at Tufts that would like to receive a recycling training or enhance its sustainability programming through recycling, please email recycle@tufts.edu. Trainings occur remotely via Zoom during COVID-19.
Custodian Trainings
Custodian education is a vital part of Tufts' recycling program. Custodians are responsible for collecting all the recycling from campus buildings, so it is important that they are well-informed about university recycling efforts.
Each year, all the custodians on each campus receive training on recycling and trash. In these annual education sessions, we discuss how to recycle, why recycling is important, the role that the custodians play in the process, how and when to collect recycling, and what to do if various problems such as contamination arise. All the educational material is in Spanish as well as in English.
