Retiree Dental Plan
Tufts offers dental plans for eligible retirees and their eligible dependents. When you retire, you and your dependents may be eligible to enroll in the university's Retiree Dental Plan.
Eligibility
Retiree dental benefits are available to eligible retirees who are age 60 or older with 5 years of eligible service, or if the sum of their age and eligible service equals 75. Eligibility guidelines can be found on Considering Retirement and the Retiree Dental Plan Document.
Plan Features and Rates
The Delta Dental Premier Plan allows you to receive services interchangeably at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Clinic or a private practice dentist when you need care. The coverage of some services is affected by whether you visit the TUSDM Clinic or a private practice.

Enrollment
To enroll, complete and submit one of the following forms to tss@tufts.edu:
- If under age 65 at retirement: Under Age 65 Retiree Health & Dental Enrollment Form
To ensure a timely and streamlined transition of your dental coverage, you must complete the enrollment process 31 days prior to your retirement. If you do not enroll within 31 days of your retirement, you forfeit the right for you and your dependents to receive dental coverage through the university’s plan in the future.
If enrolled, coverage will start on your retirement date and you will be billed for your dental coverage by EBPA the university's third-party billing administrator. For retiree dental enrollment and billing questions please contact EBPA at 888-232-3203.
COBRA Coverage
If enrolled in the active employee dental plan, coverage will end at 11:59 p.m. on your last day of employment.
Per federal regulations, EBPA, our COBRA administrator, will mail notification of your rights to continue your coverage under COBRA for up to 18 months. To elect COBRA, you must enroll within 60 days from the date of notification. Enrollment is complete once EBPA receives your first premium payment. ID Cards
Retirees can use their existing ID cards, as Delta Dental will not send new ID cards to retirees. Members don't need a physical ID card to use benefits, however you can contact Delta Dental for additional ID cards. Providers can confirm coverage by contacting Delta Dental.
