Sprintax Calculus
Audience: International Faculty, Staff, Students & Scholars (Non-Residents for Tax purposes)
Sprintax Calculus is an online tax determination software for international payees. It is a secure, web-based system that will classify international individuals and entities for U.S. tax purposes and determine appropriate tax withholding and tax treaty eligibility (if applicable). The Sprintax Calculus platform for the Tufts International Community is administered by the Tufts Support Services Tax Team.
Sprintax Returns is an online solution designed to guide international students, scholars, faculty, and staff through the tax preparation process. While Tufts partners with Sprintax to provide you with this filing solution at no cost, Tufts University does not have access or visibility into your Sprintax Returns account. Support for Sprintax Returns can be contacted by logging into their site and chatting with their 24/7 support team.

Updates to your immigration status, residency, certain biographical information, organization's name changes, or obtaining a U.S. tax ID can greatly impact accurate tax withholding or reporting to federal and state government agencies. It's important that you act with urgency, and update all payment or tax records at Tufts within 30 days of when any information has changed (as required by law), which includes Sprintax Calculus.
Examples of required Calculus updates include: extensions to your immigration status, changes in the type of income you or your organization will receive from Harvard, obtaining a new U.S. tax ID number, changes in your country of residency or permanent address, name changes, etc. If any update within Calculus triggers a change to your tax determination or tax forms, you must also submit updated (and signed) tax forms and any updated immigration documents within Calculus's "Document Exchange" for review and processing by the International Payee Tax Compliance Team.
Important Reminders:
- Tufts students must also make update SIS when receiving new SSNs.
- Please do not delete any historical information within Calculus that you provided in a prior submission.
- To expedited access to any 1042-S tax document Tufts may issue to you by March 15th, you must consent to receive your 1042s form electronically by indicating “yes” in Calculus by February 1st.
