Travel Insurance

Audience: Travel Card Holders

When one uses their JP Morgan Corporate Travel MasterCard to handle expenses, there are a full array of benefits available at no charge.  Each card holder who purchases an airline or rail ticket with their card is automatically insured for $500,000 of accident insurance at no additional cost.  In addition, there is a lost/stolen luggage benefit of up to $1,250.

In addition to the benefits noted above, the Travel MasterCard offers a MasterAssist package which covers a variety of issues (below).  The phone number to call for assistance with this package is 1-800-MCASSIST.  Services include:

1. MasterRental Insurance Coverage:  primary collision/loss damage waiver insurance for up to 31 consecutive days of car rental for up to $50,000 of physical damage or theft per incident.
2. Master RoadAssist:  includes assistance with roadside emergencies (tow, gas, jump-starts).
3. MasterLegal:  services offered to help find a lawyer or consult with proper embassy or consulate.  MasterCard will also arrange to transfer up to $5000 in cash from a traveler's business, family member or friend for legal fees.
4. MasterAssist Medical:  cardholders receive up to $2500 in secondary health insurance coverage $5,000 from a business or family member.

Because students are not eligible to receive a travel MasterCard from Tufts, if a cardholder books an airline ticket on behalf of a student with their card, the aforementioned benefits apply, else supplemental insurance can be purchased if the sponsoring department will incur the expense.  We recommend but do not reimburse for these trip cancellation insurance options:

Travelex Insurance - trip cancellation upgrade option
Travel Insured - trip cancellation/interruption upgrade/emergency medical assistance
Allianz - trip cancellation and travel insurance
