Tufts Manager Essentials Training Program
Starting Fall 2024, in partnership with Academic Impressions*, Tufts is offering a 6-month Manager Essentials training program, designed especially for the university’s supervisors to build essential management skills and introduce leadership competencies. Comprehensive training modules include topics under the following categories: Understanding Your Role as a Manager, Effective and Inclusive Communication, Managing for Outcomes, Team Development and Engagement, and Hiring and Onboarding.
Note: Manager Essentials will be replacing the Tufts Manager Development Certificate Program; current participants in the Certificate Program will be given next steps from Human Resources during this transition.
Purpose of Manager Essentials
- Develop a culture of healthy, inclusive, and positive leadership.
- Help supervisors grow in their current roles and prepare for future opportunities.
Program Design
- A series of modules over 6 months including essential topics related to supervision
- A mix of virtual, asynchronous learning and live facilitated modules and discussions
- Augmented with readings and webinars
- Culminates with a graduation ceremony
Participant Eligibility
Supervisors looking to enhance their managerial skills who:
- Demonstrate a strong desire to grow and learn.
- Commit to attending all sessions and completing coursework.
- Have support from their direct supervisor.
Time Commitment
- Month 1: 3-4 hours per week
- Months 2-6: approximately 4 hours per month
How to Participate
Supervisors will be asked to nominate eligible direct reports for each cohort, with a call-for-nominations provided by Human Resources/Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs). Let your supervisor know if you are interested in participating.
