This policy applies to all staff, temporary staff, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, or any other members of the Tufts community who are paid directly by Tufts University’s payroll department, whether hired contractually or who work under faculty or postdoctoral scholar handbooks, or who are otherwise covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
The university recognizes your right to exercise your right to vote in local, state and/or national elections. As such, the following Voting Leave policy applies.
If you are a registered voter and you are unable to take flex work hours outside of your regular work schedule to vote in local, state or national elections, you will be provided up to one (1) hour of paid Voting Leave, unless otherwise dictated by applicable law. You are encouraged to take leave at the beginning or end of their scheduled workday. Voting Leave hours do not accrue and are not paid upon separation of employment.
Coordinate Leave in Advance
Like any absence from work, voting leave time should be arranged in coordination with your supervisor and in advance to ensure the absence doesn’t adversely affect services or operations.
