Voting Leave

Amended date: 12/01/2018

The University recognizes the employee’s right to exercise their right to vote in local, state and/or national elections.  As such, the following Voting Leave policy applies.

____

Employees who are registered voters and unable to take flex work hours outside of the employee’s regular work schedule to vote in local, state or national elections shall be provided up to one (1) hour of paid Voting Leave. Employees are encouraged to take leave at the beginning or end of their scheduled workday. Voting Leave hours do not accrue and are not paid upon separation of employment.

Coordinate Leave In Advance

Voting Leave shall be coordinated in advance with the employee’s supervisor to ensure the absence doesn’t adversely affect services or operations. Employees with collective bargaining units should consult with their supervisors about requests for time off consistent with their collective bargaining agreement.
