W-2 Information for Current and Former Employees
When and How You’ll Receive Your W-2

Electronic W-2s are available in Employee Self-Service (eServe) by January 31 if you consented to electronic delivery.

Paper W-2s are mailed by January 31 to employees who did not consent to electronic delivery.

Access your W-2 on eServe
For employees who consented to electronic delivery
- Go to https://access.tufts.edu/eserve
- Log in with your Tufts username and password
- Select Employee Self Service on the top of the page (if needed)
- Click Payroll and Compensation
- Select W-4, W-2, W-2 Consent, 1095C
- Click View W-2/W-2c Forms
- Select the Year End Form to view or print.
- Prior years can be accessed by changing the Tax Year
- Make sure pop-ups are enabled
Former Employees
- Former employees generally retain access to eServe through the tax season following the year they left Tufts
- Password resets are available at https://tuftstools.tufts.edu if you know your previous password
- If you need help with login credentials or two-factor authentication, contact Tufts Technology Services (TTS) at 617-627-3376
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- If you enrolled in 2FA before leaving Tufts and still use the same phone, access should continue
- If you have a new phone, contact TTS for assistance

International Employees and Students
Many international students on F or J visas, and some international employees, may be considered tax nonresidents
- Tax nonresidents may receive a Form 1042-S instead of, or in addition to, a W-2
- Used to report:
- Scholarship or stipend income exceeding tuition and mandatory fees
- Income covered by a tax treaty
- Available by March 15
- Delivered by mail and/or available in Sprintax Calculus if you consented

Having trouble accessing your W-2? Try these steps first:
- Clear browser cache and cookies.
- Enable pop-ups. (Here's how)
- Switch web browsers (Chrome and Firefox recommended)
- Use an Incognito or Private Browsing Window
- Reset your password if you haven’t logged in recently
- Visit tuftstools.tufts.edu or contact TTS/IT at 617-627-3376.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can my W-2 be emailed to me?
No. For security purposes, W-2s cannot be emailed.
If you are unable to access your W-2 electronically after troubleshooting, TSS can mail a copy after verifying your identity by phone.
- Written requests alone are not accepted
- Mailing turnaround time is approximately 5 business days
Which address was my W-2 mailed to?
W-2 forms are mailed to the mailing address on file in eServe. If no mailing address is listed or it is inactive, they are sent to the home address instead.
What if something is wrong on my W-2?
Depending on what needs to be corrected, a W-2C may be issued.
Will TSS payroll issue a W-2C if your...
- The address is incorrect
- No.
- Name is incorrect
- Yes!**
- SN wasn't printed on the W-2
- Yes! Please submit your SSN to Payroll here.**
- Values somewhere in the W-2 are incorrect
- Yes! Please email TSS@tufts.edu so our Payroll team can address this directly.
** Please don't wait to file your taxes. When your W-2C is available, store it for your records. To modify your name or SSN, you will be asked to provide a copy of your Social Security Card to TSS@Tufts.edu.
Can my W-2 be mailed even if I've consented to Electronic Delivery?
Mailing should be the last resort, as it is the least secure and slowest option. We strongly encourage you to access your W-2 in eServe. If needed, you can change your password at https://tuftstools.tufts.edu/ if you know your previous password. If you do not know your previous password, you will need to speak with IT/TTS at 617-627-3376.
If you need it mailed, we will need to verify your identity prior to mailing it to you. You will need to speak with TSS - please call 617-627-7000.
