Zoom Generative AI Features Off by Default

Recently Zoom announced changes to its Terms of Service regarding the use of meeting content to train generative AI features collectively known as, “Zoom IQ.”
In response to concerns raised across the Tufts community and beyond, Tufts has disabled all generative AI features on our Zoom service until further notice.
As of Friday, 8/11, Zoom responded to broad customer feedback by again revising its Terms of Service as follows:
"Zoom does not use any of your audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or other communications-like Customer Content (such as poll results, whiteboard, and reactions) to train Zoom or third-party artificial intelligence models."
Even with Zoom's most recent statement, Tufts will not enable Zoom IQ features until this situation stabilizes and we are satisfied that the privacy of our community is adequately protected. We will notify the community when we feel it is safe and appropriate to enable Zoom IQ features at Tufts.
In the meantime, you may continue using the Tufts Zoom instance knowing that your meeting content is not a source for Zoom to use for other purposes.
