Zoom Security Update: Passcodes or Waiting Rooms Required
Posted: September 10, 2020

UPDATE: September 24:
On Friday, 9/18, we notified you that beginning September 27, 2020, Zoom will require that all meetings have a Passcode or Waiting Room enabled. We received an update from Zoom this week, that given feedback from their customers, Zoom will delay the requirement until end of November and will NOT be enforcing waiting rooms at all.
What this means to you
- All NEW and edited Zoom meetings, from 9/14 forward, will have passcodes automatically added. NOTE: If you Edit a Zoom Meeting created before 9/14 (after passcodes were turned on), the meeting will now require a passcode (which will be embedded in the link) and you will need to resend the link to participants.
- Meetings held in your personal room will not be affected by this change (passcodes will not be automatically added to personal room meetings. However, individual users still have the option to set up passcodes and waiting rooms for their own personal rooms, if desired.)
- Waiting rooms will NOT be added to your meetings unless you choose to do this as part of your meeting settings.
